Data displays serve one or more of three purposes.

1. Organize information
2. Solve a problem
3. Communicate

In order to properly serve the purpose for which it is intended, it is important that the display is complete in terms of information. 

This document identifies the components required in each type of display used at the elementary level in mathematics.
